What is Conneaut Lake Park?

Generally speaking, Conneaut Lake Park is an amusement park but when its assets are inventoried it can safely be said that it is much more than that and can fit any of the categories listed below.

A Community - CLP is totally unique in being an amusement park with a living community within its boundaries. The Park property consists of over 120 residences, most of which are summer cottages that date to the turn of the century. Believe it or not, the park once had its own police force, U.S. Post Office, volunteer fire department and sewage system. Today it still has its own water company that provides drinking water for approximately 120 residences and maintains its own roads. The amusement park adds to the quality of life of this unique community.

An Amusement Park - CLP's amusement park area consists of adult and kiddie rides, traditional midway games of skill, arcades, a Gift Shop, and food grab-joints offering traditional amusement park fair - all in a wooded, lakeside setting.

A Summer Resort - Several factors in CLP help to position CLP as a summer resort - lodging in the lakefront Hotel Conneaut, and Camperland offering RV and tent camping facilities; entertainment venues in Dreamland Ballroom, Beach Club night club, Dining Room and Cocktail Lounge at Hotel Conneaut, and Festival Lawn/Deck; and water activities such as swimming, boating, fishing, jet skiing on the lake and sunbathing on the park's sandy beach.

A Festival Grounds - CLP is a perfect venue for festivals and events. With its wooded setting, mesmerizing view of Conneaut Lake, paved midways, ample parking facilities, restrooms, grassy lawns, picnic groves, rides and entertainment venues, the resort can host many large events that are comperable to or larger than the annual Fall Pumpkin Fest which draws over 20,000 guests in three days.
